Overview Settings
This overview are the standard settings I recommend and use. The extra stuff that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND for sound and brightness check under the Overview Settings section of this blog post.
Turn off the wind reduction. Go to Settings. Make sure you are in “Movie Mode”.
Then go to the wrench icon (bottom left), then hit “record” button on the top of the camera to enter the settings.
- PAGE1: Resolution: I recommend 1080 60p HQ. I run 2 sims and use a belabox capping bitrate between 6000-8000. If you are on super low budget data then 720p 30 can work but adjust your OBS.
- PAGE1: Format: I recommend MP4
- PAGE1: Stabilization: I recommend “Act”
- PAGE1: Viewing Angle: I recommend “W” (widest)
- PAGE1: Zoom: I recommend to turn ON. This will allow you to use the UP / DOWN arrows to digitally zoom in and out.
- PAGE1: Auto Rotate: I recommend OFF
- PAGE 2: Exposure Compensation: You can further increase or decrease brightness if its absolutely necessary.
- PAGE2: SCN which is Screen Selection. I have never touched this for live streaming purposes.
- PAGE2: AWB is Auto White Balance. I recommend have this turned ON.
- PAGE2: Picture Profile; which I recommend to be “Vivid”.
- PAGE2: Mic ON/OFF, of course I recommend this to be ON.
- PAGE2: Wind Reduction, I recommend OFF.
- Some were skipped as they are unusable for live streaming.
Settings Section 2
- PAGE1: I recommend having Airplane Mode turned ON
- PAGE2: Ignore “Format” this is to format the SD card.
- PAGE2: TC/UB – Ignore, not usable for live streaming.
- PAGE2: Remote; if you use the Live Remote Sony may have provided with some Sony Action cams.
- PAGE2: HDMI; this area will let you change the resolution for recording.
- PAGE2: Sound; I don’t touch this but it should be set to “BGM”.
- PAGE2: USB; should be ON to allow USB charging.
- PAGE3: I personally have it set to “LIMIT” but you can have it off so when you navigate it does not make loud beeps.
- PAGE3: Beep volume; I recommend on LOW.
- PAGE3: REC; I recommend OFF.
- PAGE3: Auto Off, I recommend OFF.
- PAGE3: NTSC > PAL; I recommend NTSC for North America.
Boomy Audio
Turn off the wind reduction. Go to Settings. Make sure you are in “Movie Mode”.
Then go to the wrench icon (bottom left), then hit “record” button on the top of the camera to enter the settings. Then hit down until you are on the second page and highlight over the bottom right icon (may differ exact spot on AS300 as this is an X3000), underneath the microphone icon there would be another microphone icon with a wind type of design next to it. See video below for thorough walkthrough.
Let There Be LIGHT!
Turn off the wind reduction. Go to Settings. Make sure you are in “Movie Mode”.
Then go to the wrench icon (bottom left), then hit “record” button on the top of the camera to enter the settings. Then hit down arrow, and ensure the resolution is highlighted, such as mine is already in 1080 30p HQ (in video below), then switch it as you please. I use 1080 60p during day time, and 1080 30p during night time. (May differ exact spot on AS300 as this is an X3000)
